PUZZLE FRAMING
We often frame puzzles, so we have placed all the information here on how to glue it before framing.
So, after many hours spent on a giant puzzle, you finally finished it and are deciding what to do next - disassemble it (after all, so much work went into it!), or somehow hang it on the wall.
We have good news - reinforcing the puzzle is much simpler than it seems. We know this well because at remai.lt office, on the wall hangs... the legendary Ravensburger 32,000-piece puzzle featuring works by famous American artist Keith Haring (which, by the way, is currently the largest in the world), which we assembled over four months of nights.
But that's not the point. To glue the puzzle, you will need:
1. Puzzle
2. Clean cardboard or paper (to place under the puzzle)
3. Special glue (you can buy it in various hobby stores, we used Puzzle Conserver)
4. An hour of time
First, you need to assemble the entire puzzle - if you have several pieces, they must be joined, as gluing them beforehand may cause problems later when connecting pieces.
To protect the working environment, transfer the puzzle onto cardboard or clean paper.
Clean the puzzle from dust and other dirt - the surface must be perfectly smooth and clean.
With special glue, carefully coat the entire front side of the puzzle (at least the ones we use, apply from the top, but we recommend reading the instructions) - it should fill the gaps between the pieces. This glue is special because it fills the gaps but does not leave stains and does not change the colors of the puzzle.
Wait a good hour and, if necessary, repeat the glue application until the puzzle becomes firmly joined.
Once done, the puzzle will be whole and will not fall apart, as the glue fills all the gaps, but it will still be quite fragile, especially if it is large. If you want, you can simply glue or nail it to the wall, but if you like the picture and don’t want to damage the walls, we suggest framing the puzzle.
